But I am so happy she does because, hello, look how ridiculously cool these Halloween printables are!

From Fang Floss (a spooky version of baker’s twine) to bottled Panic Attacks, there’s a label for all your gift giving needs this Halloween. Heck, who doesn’t want a bottle of “Moldy Organ Marmalade”?? Yummy!

Decorating for Halloween with Paper, Ribbons & Tape

No-Carve Pumpkin Decorating made with Washi Tape

No-Carve Pumpkin Decorating made with Washi Tape

Halloween decor is so frighteningly fun! The colors, the shapes, the ghouls and the creativity are equally exciting for wide-eyed youngsters taking it all in, and kids-at-heart wishing it was still acceptable to approach your neighbor with an open bag and a smile.

Being the savvy gift-givers that we are, I thought it’d be fun to roundup some Halloween cheer with ideas you can make from your gift wrap stash, using paper, ribbons, and tape.

I’m Glad For Octobers

October

Here’s a bit of inspiration for the notes you write this month. The quote above comes courtesy of L.M. Montgomery, the author of Anne of Green Gables: “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November, wouldn’t it?”

A nice starting point for any letters you might sit down to pen—try it out in your next thank you note or birthday card:

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” I’m glad for Octobers. Octobers and you. Have a brilliant birthday, dear.

Charming isn’t it? For more reasons to celebrate this month, see our October Jollydays!

To make everything even more special, consider using a unique, cork-topped jar and/or printing custom labels (like the free printable labels above, by Style Me Pretty).

Wrap it up in a bow (or dip the cork in wax if you feel like getting super fancy) and you’re good to go. The best part about this DIY gift?  It’s insanely easy. Check out how to make your own over on Simply Recipes!

20 Autumn Candles from Clove to Campfire

Costes Orange Candle

There’s just something about this season. Autumn gets here and suddenly I want it to envelop me like a cozy blanket or favorite sweater. The brisk breeze, the turning leaves, the ones rustling on the ground. The scarves, the pecan pie, the chai lattes—I love it all. But what I love the most, yes maybe even more more than the pie, are the smells!

With the window cracked open, warm socks on, and a delicious candle burning, I’m a happy camper. Are you the same way?

I love a good candle. As a gift giver they’re always on my list of gifts for your backup stash. (You know, those things you keep on hand for just-in-case?)

I’ve rounded up some really wonderful ones for you. They’re perfect for a housewarming gift, for new neighbors and for your hospitable host.

From woodsy to spicy, maple and clove, pumpkin and apple, leaves and acorns, chai and bourbon, hearth and campfire—these are the scents of the season and you’ll find them in all kinds of wonderful combinations below.

Happy Fallidays

Happy Fallidays by Cotton Flower Press

Happy Fallidays by Cotton Flower Press

Do you feel it in the air? Can you see it on the trees? It’s the first day of fall!

Have you noticed how this pumpkin-colored season has a way of bringing balance to an otherwise busy time of year? Brisk morning rushes to work are complimented with spiced lattes. We take time to gather—around campfires, football games, and big spreads of food. We cozy up with an extra layer. Doesn’t everyone look more cuddly in their favorite sweater? In autumn we bake more, we stare up at the trees more, we spend more time on porches.

I’ve fallen for fall, as does happen every year, and these tastes of autumn are certainly playing their part. Warm up to autumn with me and especially check out John’s trip to the apple orchard and oh my that bourbon pumpkin pie milkshake recipe. Yes. Please.

Happy first fall weekend!
