Inspired by BLANK: Painted Wooden Eggs

Easter inspiration from BLANK

A Painted family of nesting eggs, by BLANK

I recently fell in love with a store called BLANK, created by a girl named Danie, and filled with blank supplies to inspire you to make stuff.

Sadly, the store is in Australia and at this time does not ship to the States, but that won’t stop me from being inspired by her sweet ideas and encouraging you to visit the shop and get inspired too.

BLANK carries gorgeous gift boxes in fun bright colors, great gift tags, stickers, and other fun supplies.

Danie recently shared the painted wooden eggs shown above. Great colors, right? And they nest too!

To get your hands on something similar so you can paint your own, visit iUsedtoBeATree (they’ve got the nesting ones), Wrapworks (a mega awesome gift embellishment shop), or your local craft store.

(h/t that’s happy)

Decorating for Halloween with Paper, Ribbons & Tape

No-Carve Pumpkin Decorating made with Washi Tape

No-Carve Pumpkin Decorating made with Washi Tape

Halloween decor is so frighteningly fun! The colors, the shapes, the ghouls and the creativity are equally exciting for wide-eyed youngsters taking it all in, and kids-at-heart wishing it was still acceptable to approach your neighbor with an open bag and a smile.

Being the savvy gift-givers that we are, I thought it’d be fun to roundup some Halloween cheer with ideas you can make from your gift wrap stash, using paper, ribbons, and tape.

I’m Glad For Octobers

October

Here’s a bit of inspiration for the notes you write this month. The quote above comes courtesy of L.M. Montgomery, the author of Anne of Green Gables: “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November, wouldn’t it?”

A nice starting point for any letters you might sit down to pen—try it out in your next thank you note or birthday card:

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” I’m glad for Octobers. Octobers and you. Have a brilliant birthday, dear.

Charming isn’t it? For more reasons to celebrate this month, see our October Jollydays!

Happy Fallidays

Happy Fallidays by Cotton Flower Press

Happy Fallidays by Cotton Flower Press

Do you feel it in the air? Can you see it on the trees? It’s the first day of fall!

Have you noticed how this pumpkin-colored season has a way of bringing balance to an otherwise busy time of year? Brisk morning rushes to work are complimented with spiced lattes. We take time to gather—around campfires, football games, and big spreads of food. We cozy up with an extra layer. Doesn’t everyone look more cuddly in their favorite sweater? In autumn we bake more, we stare up at the trees more, we spend more time on porches.

I’ve fallen for fall, as does happen every year, and these tastes of autumn are certainly playing their part. Warm up to autumn with me and especially check out John’s trip to the apple orchard and oh my that bourbon pumpkin pie milkshake recipe. Yes. Please.

Happy first fall weekend!

Cozy Up to Autumn with Sweet Paul

Sweet Paul Magazine Fall 2011

Sweet Paul Magazine Fall 2011

Well he’s done it. Sweet Paul has officially transitioned me into the autumn spirit. It’s a little sweet, a little spicy, looks beautiful and smells divine.

If you’ve yet to explore an issue of Sweet Paul Magazine, you’re in for a real treat. You’ll find everything from warm apple cider and (even more) avocados, to tips on throwing a camping party, minus the camping. There’s recipes to inspire a harvest bake sale and even a spooky black Halloween.

Enjoy this quick peek, and then I recommend that you get comfortable, light a spicy candle and flip through for a while. You’ll be falling for autumn in no time.

Handmade Wedding Invites Pack a Powerful Punch

Sayonara boring save the dates and wedding invites, your cheesy designs and one-size-fits-all approach have got to go! Announcements like this should be special, and I’d gladly take personality and craftsmanship over price and convenience any day.

I think that’s just what Christine and Ian had in mind when they designed and fabricated these gorgeous invitation bundles, complete with 3D trees, a custom Field Guide and hand-stamped names. The couple clearly poured lots of detailed, DIY magic into this project, and it totally shows.
