Jambox

JAMBOX by Jawbone blue

There’s a lot to look at. We get it. To help you out we’re calling attention to a gift you may have missed, or one we think you shouldn’t. This is the Something for Someone Spotlight.

No cords, no dock, just booming sound in the palm of your hand—Jambox is music to our ears. Quite literally, in fact.

Jambox is a great looking little speaker that streams audio wirelessly from any Bluetooth device from anywhere in a room. This means most phones and your iPad can all remotely send and control the sound coming out of this compact box—music, movies, games too.

We also love that it’s a portable speakerphone. With a powerful built-in mic you can share a conference call or a video chat with just this little guy on the table. Oh, and it comes in four colors.

DMTC: Smile Cooking Toaster

Smile Toaster by Xu Yan Xiang

Didn’t Make the Cut: Gifts on Wantist must meet two criteria—the ability to buy it today and overall gift greatness. When we come across something we’d like to share but doesn’t pass the test, we post it here.

We all know that a good breakfast is a healthy way to start the day, so it stands to reason that smiling toast would be a healthy, and happy, addition to your morning routine.

Our friend Melissa helped us discover this grinning gadget—something funny for someone geeky we thought. But alas it’s only a concept and the closest match in the retail world was not nearly as snazzy, nor reliable.

Have a suggestion for something funny for someone geeky? Let us know in the comments below.

(Thanks, Melissa!)

I’m imagining a street full of these filling the screen in a Gondry film. A stunning gift if it existed, Write-A-Bike by Swiss designer Juri Zaech is, at this point, just a lovely expression of his imagination with the possibility of a prototype on the way. All that’s missing is a girl in a hat with a red ballon.

On Gratitude: Celebrities Share What They’re Most Thankful For

On Gratitude: Celebrities Share What They're Most Thankful For

There’s a lot to look at. We get it. To help you out we’re calling attention to a gift you may have missed, or one we think you shouldn’t. This is the Something for Someone Spotlight.

Sometimes the humility of the most prosperous among us can be the most surprising. Whether you dish on the latest celeb gossip or not, this thoughtful (and sometimes silly) book of gratitude from B.B. King to Ricky Gervais to Seth Rogen, just might warm the cockles of your sentimental heart.

Happy Thanksgiving to friends of Wantist, new and not so new. We appreciate all your support during this first week since launch and hope you have a wonderful Turkey Day.

Shower thinkers and bathtub brainstormers listen up—if you’re like me, your best ideas happen in the shower. You’re relaxed, away from the computer, taking a break from your work, when it comes to you, the aha! you’ve been looking for. And the worst part, you towel off and poof it’s gone. Crap!

When I found out about AquaNotes, I had to see if they really worked. This shower situation had been going on for too long. Well, let’s just say I’d wear an “I ♥ AquaNotes” tshirt if they made one. They’re completely waterproof. Even the eraser works in the shower. The marks don’t smear or rub off. And the best part, I can tear off a sheet and take it back to my desk when I’m done.

I’m indebted to to this simple product, and I recommend it for every shower thinker and bathtub brainstormer on you list.

DMTC: TikTok+LunaTik Multi-Touch Watch Kits

TikTok+LunaTik Multi-Touch Watch Kits

One of our criteria for products included on Wantist is the ability to get it today. When you need a gift you usually can’t wait too long, and while we come across some really amazing almost-there ideas coming out of the industrial design world every day, unless you can buy it, it won’t make the cut. Every so often we’d still like to share them with you, so here’s numero uno.

Our first edition of Didn’t Make the Cut (DMTC) should include a big ol “Yet” because it’s very likely they’ll be in production soon. It’s a Kickstarter project (if you don’t know what that means read here) by Chicago-based design studio MINIMAL to build premium watch bands that “transform the iPod Nano into the world’s coolest mutli-touch watches”.

Check out the video below to see more about the two versions they’ve designed, TikTok and LunaTik. If you want to get in on the ground floor, consider a pledge to be one of the first to get your hands on one of these. (They’ve already raised $231K in three days!)

This is a very cool idea and the design looks terrific. We’re particularly smitten with the LunaTik and as soon as it hits stores we’ll change this one from Yet to Yes!

TikTok will retail for $34.95 and LunaTik will retail for $69.95.
