Cariann Burger is one cool chick. She’s got talent (of the super-creative kind), she’s genuine and sweet to everyone (that smile!) and she runs a company that empowers and celebrates the work of artists all over the world.

Cariann and her husband Paul are the founders of Cargoh, a marketplace of independent art and design—essentially a jackpot of wonderful things from an inspiring community of creative people.

When I first started dating my husband we lived in different countries. I would send him a meaningful gift weekly with a letter in it. The letters spelled a word, which was a clue to the surprise I had for him when we saw each other again.

Dear Great Teachers, Thanks for Teaching Us

I’ve had some wonderful teachers in my life, both in the classroom and others I’m fortunate to call friends. They continue to leave lasting impressions on me (some I couldn’t forget if I tried). They also taught me important lessons of persistence, patience and the difference between there, their and they’re.

Held annually on October 5th, today’s a special day to recognize teachers, set up by the educational division of the United Nations, to celebrate the essential role of teachers worldwide.

For World Teachers’ Day I wanted to share with you two inspirational tales from the internet of ways to show gratitude for your teachers. One, a public show of thanks on a unique and thoughtful website—you can participate too! The other, an example set by a sweet friend with a big heart that we can take and implement any day of the year.

There’s just something about this season. Autumn gets here and suddenly I want it to envelop me like a cozy blanket or favorite sweater. The brisk breeze, the turning leaves, the ones rustling on the ground. The scarves, the pecan pie, the chai lattes—I love it all. But what I love the most, yes maybe even more more than the pie, are the smells!

With the window cracked open, warm socks on, and a delicious candle burning, I’m a happy camper. Are you the same way?

I love a good candle. As a gift giver they’re always on my list of gifts for your backup stash. (You know, those things you keep on hand for just-in-case?)

Bokeh Gift Tags: Free Printable Stickers

We had this crazy idea to make gift labels with bokeh images. Something fitting from Richie to Margot.

Why bokeh, you say? Because there’s something magical about it. It’s colorful, and dare I say, sparkly. I’m not talking sparkly like My Little Ponies, I’m talking sparkly like Japan through the lens of Sofia Coppola.

I don’t want to bore you with all the geeky technical details but I do want to show you how the gift tags turned out.

We (well mostly Jacob—he’s a keeper I tell ya) decided to format them for these square labels by Avery (22806) because they’re easy to use and print to the edge. You’ll find them at Amazon or your local office supply store.

All you have to do is:

Get the labels
Download the free PDF
Put the labels in your printer
Print and stick!

I told you it was easy.

They’re perfect on everything from a wrapped box to a gift bag, even treat bags of homemade cookies. (I am so cool with it if you decide to send me some.)
