Thanksgiving is one of my favorite occasions to send a card. It’s a special time of year when everyone’s feeling cozy, friendly, fat, and grateful.
To those you can’t be with this Thanksgiving and others you appreciate more than they know, say thank you, say gravy, or simply send your love with one of these turkey-stuffing, fun-loving, thanks-giving cards.

ABC is for Absolutely Brilliant Cards! I have a thing for Heartfish Press. I’ve posted about Hijiri and her typetastic letterpress goods before but I’ve been wanting to feature her line of Alphabet Greeting Cards for a while, and now’s the perfect time. Hijiri just welcomed a new baby girl!
Right. You’re thinking, “How is THAT the perfect time?” Well, because while the shop is taking some time off, they’re offering 20% off everything. Everything! (With code: WELCOMEBABY)
It’s a great time to stock up and pick some favorites for the coming holidays. Each card in the Alphabet line celebrates a different occasion or sentiment so there’s something for everyone, like Y, for the Year 2012. Which is almost here. I can hardly believe it.
I’ve had some wonderful teachers in my life, both in the classroom and others I’m fortunate to call friends. They continue to leave lasting impressions on me (some I couldn’t forget if I tried). They also taught me important lessons of persistence, patience and the difference between there, their and they’re.
Held annually on October 5th, today’s a special day to recognize teachers, set up by the educational division of the United Nations, to celebrate the essential role of teachers worldwide.
For World Teachers’ Day I wanted to share with you two inspirational tales from the internet of ways to show gratitude for your teachers. One, a public show of thanks on a unique and thoughtful website—you can participate too! The other, an example set by a sweet friend with a big heart that we can take and implement any day of the year.

A simple ‘thank you’ can go a long way, making both the thankee and thanker’s day much better. I’m sure you already knew that, but have you heard of World Gratitude Day? Celebrated on September 21st, this Jollyday is the perfect excuse to be more grateful than usual. In fact, we’re big fans of giving thanks for any reason at all, so here are ten fun ways to show appreciation today, and every day!
Bruised fruit drives me bananas, so I’d happily give mine up to any willing volunteers. Thanks for taking one for the team!
Expressing gratitude is a gift itself. You can say thank you for a present and for a gajillion other reasons too. Like, thanks for being such a swell host in your fine town. Thanks for saving me from the side of the road when my car broke down. Thanks for the pancakes. Thanks for being awesome.
After sharing birthday cheer, the gals of Holiday Matinee are back saying thank you. Now it’s our turn. Thanks HM for inspiring creativity, for always saying “you can”, and for sharing Monique and Hannah with us on the blog this week!
I will learn French someday, but in the meantime, I’ll fake it with this sweet note from Yellow Owl Workshop.

Leah Dieterich has a way with words. Thankful words. Each day she puts pen to paper in recognition of something she’s grateful for and posts the notes on thxthxthx.
There’s always something to be thankful for. From the important things like Songs You’re Embarrassed to Like, and Heavy Eyelids that Tell You When You Need to Sleep, to friends and family, love and loneliness, light and darkness, Leah Dieterich sets out to acknowledge them all. thxthxthx is her daily exercise in gratitude.
We’re excited that her sincere, often quirky, handwritten notes have come together in a delightful compilation called thxthxthx: Thank Goodness for Everything.
In addition she’s made some darn cute videos about the book launch. Enjoy a couple below, then snag the book for someone you’re grateful for!

Growing up, my mother encouraged me to always be grateful for every opportunity, good gesture, or bit of service that came my way – and to express it in words and writing. To this day, I’m still a strong believer in the hand-written “Thank You” card. Of course, my love of stationery and pretty paper doesn’t hurt either. But really, with beautiful cards like these, there’s no excuse not to!
A favorite quote goes, “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” For our first in an ongoing series on thank you notes, here’s Brandi.
I started writing thank you notes routinely after watching a lecture on time management given by Randy Pausch. Randy was an incredible professor and person and firmly believed that one of the best things we could do was thank other people for their help. There’s always a pile of blank thank you notes on my desk, making it easy to grab one and write the moment I think about it. What’s even more amazing is how much people appreciate a hand-written thank you — I’ve been thanked just for sending a sweet thank you. Here are some of my favorite thank you notes out there right now:
That’s right, today is The International Day of Awesomeness. “A special day to both perform and celebrate feats of awesomeness”.
Inspired by the myth of Chuck Norris and Ze Frank’s The Show (love!), this is a day we can totally get behind.
It seemed only fitting that we celebrate awesomeness expert, Dallas Clayton. We interviewed Dallas after the launch of his first book and were immediately smitten with the author, his illustrations, and his wonderful book.
He’s back with a follow up book that’s again filled with colorful drawings, heart-warming sentiments, and this time, gobs of gratitude.
Read all about An Awesome Book of Thanks! on Wantist, and you can flip through the book cover-to-cover over here.
Best of all is this video about the book that fills us with smiles.
Thank you Dallas for being so Awesome!
