Seen here as a fun decoration for a wedding reception. Brittany Watson Jepsen takes you through all the DIY steps to make Flying Wedding Couple Balloons over on Brooklyn Bride.

It’s such a whimsical idea for any celebration. So many adaptations come to mind. Birthdays—Flying High at 50! Over the Hill and Up in the Sky! And of course the younger kids would get a kick out of this too.

It’d be a sweet gesture on an anniversary too, don’t you think? Even more magical with plane tickets attached. (Wink-nudge)

I’d love to see this done other ways. What are your ideas?

Wedding & Anniversary Gifts? Studiopatró’s Love Set Is All You Need

Love Set folded

Love Set Tea Towels by Studiopatró

Simple expressions of love around the house are a surefire way to bump up the cheer-factor in a home. However it’s not always easy to find gifts that assert sweet somethings and are also well-suited to today’s modern newlyweds and classy couples.

But I’ve found one for you, and it’s exquisite. I was fortunate to catch a sneak peek of Studiopatró’s new Love set of linen tea towels at a local event a couple weeks ago. I’d admired their textiles from afar so it was a treat to see and touch the linens in person. And for the record Studiopatró creator, Christina, is just as chic and lovely as the the line itself.

Love Set stacked

So, the Love Set! This set of hand-printed towels was just added to their shop today. It’s the kind of gift you’ll find yourself buying three of—one for you, one for a lucky couple, and one for all the other fun things you can do with them. I’ll s’plain…

Make This Gift: Custom Art from Your Own Fingerprints!

ManMadeDIY : How To: Make Custom Art from Your Own Fingerprints

Custom Fingerprint Art, by Chris Gardner

Here’s a DIY that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, wedding gifts, or just because. It utilized something so specifically you and turns it into art—your fingerprints!

You’ll need to have some simple creative computer skills (or know someone who does) and be quite cunning to acquire the fingerprints without raising any suspicions. Just tell your Valentine with a wink and a smile, “Shut it! No questions.”

Our friend Chris at ManMadeDIY put together this handy tutorial to take you through the steps for making your own. And if his visual style isn’t quite yours, get creative! There are many ways to adapt the idea changing the scale, colors, paper colors and typeface. Have fun! And let us know how yours turns out.

Besotted Brand Woodcut Stamp for the Newly Wed

Besotted Brand Woodcut Couples Monogram Personalized Stamp

I just had to chuckle when I saw Tristan’s latest addition to her shop, Besotted Brand. It’s a monogram stamp for couples that can be personalized with their Missus and Mister initials. (That’s not the funny part.)

Just like everything from Besotted it’s simple and beautiful. (Not funny either.)

In Tristan’s case, her mister bears the first initial “A” making for a particularly cheeky double entendre. (There it is.)

My dear friend Megan gets married next week and it’s impossible not to have wedding on the brain. When I saw this I immediately thought of her (act surprised M+M!). Weddings are just so lovey and fun. I can’t wait!

I love that this is a gift the couple can use for quite a long time. First for their thank yous—maybe she writes, and he stamps? And all other ways throughout the years.

As the holidays near how fun would it be to stamp initials onto presents and handmade gifts? Friends and family would definitely know which packages were from the newlyweds.

Handmade Wedding Invites Pack a Powerful Punch

Sayonara boring save the dates and wedding invites, your cheesy designs and one-size-fits-all approach have got to go! Announcements like this should be special, and I’d gladly take personality and craftsmanship over price and convenience any day.

I think that’s just what Christine and Ian had in mind when they designed and fabricated these gorgeous invitation bundles, complete with 3D trees, a custom Field Guide and hand-stamped names. The couple clearly poured lots of detailed, DIY magic into this project, and it totally shows.

It’s still summer!

Endless Summer Tote by fieldguided

While friends and family further south might be wishing otherwise, up here in the Northwest I’m hanging on to every ounce of summer I can get.

As we head into the weekend, let’s resolve to make the most of this last one in August, okay?

And if you need a little persuasion, the internet and I are here to help you along.
