Capricorn Zodiac Print by JSGD on Society6

Ambitious, sincere, competitive. Hardworking, committed and determined. These are all qualities of the Capricorn, born December 22 – January 19. Unfortunately, with a birthday that close to Christmas, more often than not, it gets overshadowed by the holiday and their gift becomes a dual purpose holiday/birthday kinda thing.

This year, don’t let the season overshadow their day! Celebrate your Capricorn on their birthday and make them feel special—even if their birthday is on December 25th.

Give & Tell with Badder Homes & Gardens

Badder Homes & GardensAs we begin to brine our brilliantly basted turkeys, spoon splendid stuffings and gather gorgeous gourds for our centerpieces, how about a break from the fancy finer things? In fact, let’s do the opposite of that.

If you’re easily offended and/or have zero sense of humor, stop reading and get back to that pie crust. But if you love a good laugh and girls who tell it like it is, then I’ve got a treat for you.

Say hello to the unMartha’s of Texas, Krista, Sarah, and Nikki. They’re smart, funny, sarcastic, and they swear a lot. They’re the authors of Badder Homes & Gardens—”the bad girls guide to good housekeeping”—and they’re sharing their gifting wisdom and woes with us today. Nikki even threw in a little tutorial for you.

What should you give your Boss?

someecards.com - Sorry I wasted so much of the work day picking out a Boss's Day card for you"

Ecards for Bosses by someecards

There are all kinds of bosses—good, bad, hilarious, humorless, geeky, adventurous, gregarious, odd.

We appreciate variety and that not every boss is the same (though you humorless ones could use a little lightening up, mmmk?) It’s why we made Wantist the way we did and you don’t see a drop-down for “Boss-man” (or woman).

To find the perfect gift for your boss, I recommend starting with something for someone professional, unless your boss is a wild one then head straight for the gifts for fun-loving people.

However, to get you started here’s a few favorites for boss-types.

Give & Tell with Cariann Burger of Cargoh

Cariann Burger from Cargoh.com

Cariann Burger is one cool chick. She’s got talent (of the super-creative kind), she’s genuine and sweet to everyone (that smile!) and she runs a company that empowers and celebrates the work of artists all over the world.

Cariann and her husband Paul are the founders of Cargoh, a marketplace of independent art and design—essentially a jackpot of wonderful things from an inspiring community of creative people.

Today she joins us for our very first Give & Tell. Thanks, Cariann!

What’s the most inexpensive item you could receive that warms your heart every time?

Flowers from my husband, even though I tell him not to buy them, and his love notes.

Have you ever given a gift in an interesting way?

When I first started dating my husband we lived in different countries. I would send him a meaningful gift weekly with a letter in it. The letters spelled a word, which was a clue to the surprise I had for him when we saw each other again.

23 Supplies for an Inspiring Office Space

Power in Numbers by Tweed Tom

Every fall, I start getting a bit nostalgic for the most wonderful time of the year. Throughout my youth, kids were always whining about the end of summer, but I was anxiously awaiting back-to-school shopping. I’d dream about stocking up on fresh notebooks and Lisa Frank Trapper Keepers, or filling my pencil box to the brim with new writing utensils and crayons. Was I a huge dork? Maybe, but we all know organization outweighs street cred, right? Right?!

Well, I’m still geeking out on office supplies, but nowadays I lean more towards vintage desk accessories and bright, quirky details. Since there’s no denying that your environment influences the work you produce, I’m a big believer in surrounding yourself with inspiration. Here are some fun goodies that will spruce up any work space while simultaneously increasing productivity!

q&a: with Chad Doane of Doane Paper

Doane Paper Interview

A simple thought—combine ruled lined paper with grid paper. Clever!

That was the idea Chad Doane had back in 2005. We’d come across it then, downloaded the pdf (the only version available at the time) and waited anxiously for a notepad of the same design.

Five years later and the Doane Paper line has grown into an impressive collection of pads, journals and notebooks that make writing and sketching on the same piece of paper a breeze.

We wanted to hear the whole story. Here he tells us how Doane Paper started and about the new products just launched this month.
